FAQ

What is CBD?

CBD is the abbreviation for cannabidiol. One of over 100+ naturally occurring cannabinoid compounds found in Marijuana and Hemp. You’re probably familiar with THC, which is the most famous compounds found in Marijuana.

However, as the second most prevalent cannabinoid in Marijuana and the top non-psychoactive cannabinoid found in hemp, CBD has been gaining much attention in the scientific community and media because of its health benefits.

Unlike THC, CBD is not psychoactive. In other words, it’s not what gets you a high or stoned feeling.

CBD primarily interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system, a grouping of millions of cannabinoid receptors found throughout your body, but are primarily clustered in the brain and central nervous system.

While CBD is a phytocannabinoid (means: plant-based cannabinoid). Your body also naturally produces cannabinoids, known as endocannabinoids. Almost every organ of your body, including your skin and digestive tract, contains cannabinoid receptors.

Unlike THC, CBD does not interact strongly with the two classical cannabinoid receptors (CB1 and CB2). This is why CBD does not cause any psychoactive effect. Instead, CBD inhibits the enzymes that break down endocannabinoids, leading to an increase in your body’s naturally-produced cannabinoids.

A secret system where nobody is talking about, the school does not teach anything about it, which we found weird… We’re talking about the endocannabinoid system also knows as the ECS.

It’s a 600 million-year-old messenger and receptor system that will cause (with a fancy word) homeostasis in your body. Homeostasis is the balance of chemical and physical processes in your body.

The endocannabinoid system reacts to physiological processes and organs, acting and reacting to internal and external stimuli to direct, correct and over-manage your health.

Your body is naturally ready to make use of cannabinoids, that is because there’s a network of receptors within your body that makes use of these compounds.

In the hemp plant, there are over 1500 different components, such as terpenes and flavonoids, but the most important components are the cannabinoids. There are a lot of cannabinoids such as CBD, CBG, CBN, CBDA, THC and much much more.

If we talk about a full-spectrum oil, it means that all the cannabinoids are in the oil, if you have a full-spectrum oil, you will experience the best results because all the components work together. They synergise with each other, and that is what you call the entourage effect.

No.

All of our hemp extract products are made from industrial hemp with THC levels below 0.05%. There is no intoxicating effect from taking our products.

Scientifically, industrial Hemp and Marijuana are the same plants, with a genus and species name of Cannabis Sativa. They have a unique genetic profile, however. Typically, industrial hemp is very fibrous with long, strong stalks and few flowering buds. Marijuana plants are typically smaller, bushier, and full of flowering buds.

Most of the time, Marijuana has a high amount of THC and a very low amount of CBD. Hemp, on the other hand, naturally has higher amounts of CBD and only trace amounts of THC (less than 0.05%).

Fortunately, the cannabinoid profile of hemp is ideal for people looking for benefits from cannabis without the ‘high.’

Historically, hemp has been used to make food products, fibre, rope, paper, bricks, oil, natural plastic, and so much more. Marijuana is usually used both recreationally and medicinally. The term “cannabis oil” can refer to either a marijuana or hemp-derived oil, since Marijuana and hemp are two different forms of cannabis.

All SleepBD products are derived from hemp.

Because each person’s body structure is unique, it is difficult to set a predetermined measurement that is right for everyone. To find out what the right dose of CBD oil is, you simply have to start taking it. Luckily, CBD oil is completely safe and will never cause dangerous or unwanted effects when ‘overdosed’. But logically and economically speaking, there’s no need to consume more than necessary.

Depending on the chosen product, the starting dosage for CBD sleep edition and our Ultima Bio edition is around 2 or 3 drops, or 1 or 2 pumps a day unless otherwise advised. This provides the minimum amount of CBD necessary to experience some kind of effect.

In case you experience no difference in your situation after 10-14 days of use, it is advisable to increase the dosage. In case you’re not sure about the right dosage for your needs, you are always welcome to contact us. We’re happy to give you advice on all of our CBD products and their starting dosage and help you determine the best way to integrate CBD into your daily diet.

Hemp products that contain CBD are currently and successfully brought to market in over 40 countries by many businesses. We encourage users to always check with your local government, police department, or customs office for the most up to date information regarding the legality of CBD in your area before purchase. This answer should not be considered legal advice, so we strongly recommend that you check with your local administration to ensure that you are happy with the level of legality of consuming these products before you buy them.

Although our products comply with the federally mandated THC limit of  0.05% THC by dry weight, this does mean a positive test is possible. Drug tests are not uniform, and the THC threshold that would yield a positive result is stricter in some tests than others.

While our products do not require refrigeration, we recommend storing your CBD oil in a cool and dry place, such as you would store honey. Make sure to shake well before each use.

Since we are not medical professionals, we recommend that you consult with your physician or pharmacist before using any cannabinoids.
